Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume has stated that the United States retains significant leverage over Iran's oil infrastructure, despite recent military actions in the Middle East. He noted that Iran's threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz are not a smart strategy as Iran relies heavily on the strait for its own economy. Hume also highlighted that completely closing the Strait would significantly impact Iran's economy. President Donald Trump has announced that several countries will join the US in sending warships to protect the Strait from threats by Iran.
