Scenery Bags, an eco-conscious accessories brand, is transforming discarded Broadway materials into limited-edition fashion and home pieces. Founder and CEO Jennifer Kahn, who previously worked as a professional stage manager on Broadway shows, started the company as a way to combine her passion for sustainability and ethical style. The company recycles backdrops, costumes, stage floors, and more to create one-of-a-kind items that can be purchased while reducing theatrical waste. The brand has collected nearly 40,000 pounds of theatrical waste through its catalog. 10% of all proceeds from every purchase are donated to the Theater Development Fund. The firm is also expanding its manufacturing arm to include more environmentally friendly products and accessible access to live performances.
