Luc Gommers, head of documentary and commissioning editor at VRT Canvas, has been at the heart of Flanders' major public broadcaster, VRT for over three decades. Canvas focuses on culture, in-depth news, arthouse films, and non-fiction. As head of the channel, Gommer buys, commissions, produces and co-produces standalone documentaries and series alike. He is a key figure in bringing singular Flemish proposals to the channel and beyond. Gomers recently commissioned the docu series “Basisschool Balder” by directors Evy De Ceur, Ciska Snauwaert and Sarah D’Haeyer, showing a realistic portrayal of running a Brussels school.
