On March 1, rescue teams from El Paso County Search and Rescue responded to a medical emergency at the top of the Manitou Incline, a strenuous hike that involves 2,768 steps and nearly 2,000 vertical feet. The incident occurred near the summit of the 8,500-foot route, prompting an emergency response from their team and Manitou Springs Fire. The rescue subject was transported to UCHealth Lifeline for medical treatment. This hike is considered an extreme hike, with a typical hiker taking between 1.5 and two hours to reach the top, and a return trip down the mountain.
