Northern Illinois is expected to see an unseasonably warm and windy Friday, with temperatures expected to reach near 70 degrees across the region, well above the average for early March. Southerly winds will increase throughout the day, contributing to increased humidity and strong winds. As temperatures rise, thunderstorms are expected to develop, potentially resulting in gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move through ahead of an approaching cold front. After Friday's warm weather, cooler air is expected for the weekend.
