Two Texas residents who were exposed to a hantavirus outbreak on an expedition cruise ship are currently being monitored as a precaution. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention informed state officials that the individuals were passengers on the MV Hondius, which experienced an outbreak while on its way to the Atlantic Ocean. The outbreak was identified and public health officials have since contacted the individuals. The strain linked to the outbreak is the Andes virus, which is rare but potentially serious infection.
