Barbara Nekvinda recalls an early-1960s home opener at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, where she was excused for the game and received a letter from front-office executive Gabe Paul and a check to cover dry cleaning. Jim and Stacey Jones barely remember the 1973 home opener, but the real highlight was meeting each other at the game. For Jim and Valerie Tanzilli, the important game was the 1994 exhibition at the brand-new Jacobs Field, a modern, clean park that would revolutionize downtown baseball in Cleveland.
