Comedian Stephen Colbert has announced a surprising new gig after "The Late Show" ends in May. He is set to write a new film in the "Lord of the Rings" franchise with his son, Peter McGee. The announcement was made in a social media clip shared by Warner Bros. and was made after Colbert read six early chapters in "The Fellowship of the Ring" that were not adapted into the trilogy. This marks Colbert's first major gig for the show, following the cancellation of "TheLate Show" on CBS. Despite not having much experience as a film screenwriter, Colbert has made a cameo in the 2013 prequel film "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."
