Elisabeth Moss made a surprise appearance on the first episode of The Testaments, the sequel to her Emmy-winning series, The Handmaid's Tale. The show's creator, Bruce Miller, revealed that Moss' character, June Osborne, was nearly killed numerous times plotting the demise of Gilead and returns for a two-hander with Lucy Halliday in episode 3. The long road to The Testament began before author Margaret Atwood's sequel novel, The Testitudes, began even before the book was published. The series was only in its third season, and June barely appears in Atwood’s Testaments. The testaments shifts focus from the degradation of the handmaids stratum of Giliad to the elite echelon of the Commanders' daughters.
