Sasse details cancer battle in new interview: ‘Death is something we should hate’

Former Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb) detailed his battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in an interview with The New York Times's Ross Douthat. The interview took place less than four months after Sasse revealed his diagnosis. He praised his hospice doctor and two main oncologists at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for their work on the disease. Sasse, a father of three, expressed a "heaviness" about realizing he had limited time left with his family. He also mentioned that his pain is 80 percent reduced from when he was first diagnosed and that he deals with nausea and occasional bleeding due to the drug daraxonrasib.
