The New England Patriots are reportedly releasing football player Stefon Diggs from the team due to his pending assault trial. Diggs, who signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the AFC champions last year, was informed by team officials that he would be released on March 11. His tenure with the Patriots was marked by highs and lows, including a viral video showing him passing a mystery substance to women on a yacht and arrest in December after a woman accused him of slapping and choking her. Despite this, Diggs' relationship with rapper Cardi B ended just as the Patriots reached the Super Bowl, where he caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. His salary cap charge may have influenced the decision.
