White House proposes 2027 budget with $1.5T for defense, $73B in spending cuts

The White House has proposed a $1.5 trillion budget for 2027, largely for the Department of War, with a $445 billion increase from the previous year. The Office of Management and Budget has also requested a $73 billion cut in non-defense spending. The defense budget includes a pay raise of between six and seven percent for all troops and $65.8 billion for shipbuilding.
