The League of Women Voters from the Palos Orland Area chapter will host a panel discussion on the effects of large data centers on the utility grid. The panel will discuss energy and utility rate increases, with contributions from Sarah Moskowitz, executive director of the Citizens Utility Board, and Sara Cline, of the Public Interest Research Group. The League is urging residents to contact their state lawmakers to pass the POWER ACT in Illinois, which aims to prevent communities from footing the bills for rate increases and decreased electricity supply by data center developers.
