The City of Fort Worth is commemorating National Library Week with a memorial to Lirl Treuter, a Renaissance librarian. Born in 1922, Treuter moved to the city in 1930 and later moved away and returned in 1940. While attending Texas Wesleyan College in the 1940s, she studied art under artist Kelly Fearing and served in the Women's Army Corps as a corporal. She was responsible for arranging exhibits, managing the art loan program, and developing the library's collection of record albums.
