A fossil discovered by the University of Texas at Austin has been named Doolysaurus, the first new dinosaur species discovered in South Korea in over 14 years. The discovery was made using advanced CT scanning technology under a specialized lab at the university. The dinosaur was discovered in 2023 on Aphae Island, off South Korea’s coast, an area known more for dinosaur tracks and eggs than skeletons. It is the first dinosaur fossil from South Korea ever found with skull material. The fossil was named after iconic dinosaur character, Dooly the little dinosaur. Researchers believe Dooly's lived about 100 million years ago and may have walked on two legs.
