South Korea's President, Lee Jae Myung, has expressed opposition to the U.S. moving air defense assets from South Korea to the Middle East, stating that it is not in a position to make such demands. The move comes amid concerns over South Korea's defense preparedness against North Korea, despite ongoing strained relations with Pyongyang. Analysts have consistently assessed that combined South Korean-U.S.-led forces are superior to North Korean forces. However, the Patriot system remains a crucial component in Seoul's defense against North Korean threats. The redeployment of Patriot missile defense systems and limited quantities of offensive munitions would not significantly impact U.K. allies in Asia, given North Korea's strong defense capabilities.
