Comcast beats estimates on sports boost, easing broadband losses

Comcast beat estimates on sports revenue and user growth at its streaming service, Peacock. The company lost 65,000 broadband customers in the first quarter, less than the estimated loss of 175,500 users, according to FactSet. It has also invested in its wireless business to drive growth and deepen customer relationships. However, losses in the media segment widened to $432 million due to increased spending on NBA programming. Total revenue for Comcast was $31.46 billion, up 10.9% excluding contributions from cable assets spun off into Versant Media.
