The closure of the Alliance Bank Center in downtown St. Paul has led to a significant disruption in the city's 5-mile system of glass bridges. The building was abandoned by Madison Equities when founder Jim Crockarell died in 2024, leading the city to take control of it. The nonprofit Saint Paul Downtown Development Corporation (SPDDC) acquired the property in October using funds from a fund backed by Securian Financial and the Bush Foundation.
