Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that there are "no guarantees" when gas prices will fall, despite acknowledging the Strait of Hormuz remains unsafe. Despite this, the Energy Information Administration predicts that gas won't fall back to pre-conflict levels by the end of 2027. Wright argued that the situation would be significantly worse without the military operation to defend the Iranian regime. He also acknowledged that there will be "some elevated pricing" until the war ends. National average gas prices hit $3.699 Sunday, up from $2.927 a month ago.
