The SEC and CFTC join hands: State of Crypto

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have agreed to work more closely together to clarify their regulatory approaches to the digital asset and emerging technology sectors. The agencies aim to update their regulatory frameworks for regulated companies across several areas, including clearing and margin, trade data and intermediaries. The memorandum of understanding suggests that the agencies will regularly hold joint meetings, share data, and communicate their efforts to oversee the sector. However, the agencies are still awaiting the outcome of a market structure bill currently working through the Senate, which is unlikely to pass.
