A survey conducted by The Harris Poll has found that 66% of employed Americans regularly save money from their income in a bank account, according to the survey. However, 8% of these respondents said they don't regularly save anything from their paycheck. The survey also found that nearly a quarter of Americans are unaware of how much money they save from their take-home income they save regularly. The most common goal for active savings was an emergency fund, with 45% of Americans actively saving money for such a goal. Saving money can help people use cash instead of debt for future purchases, but saving money does not necessarily mean having a large amount left over after accounting for expenses.
