Ed Abele, a member of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District Board, has filed two legal claims against the district, accusing top leaders of harassing and discriminating against him due to his learning disability. The claims allege that District Manager Dan Paranick called Abele a "moron" and "idiot" after he requested clarification on an agenda item. The district has not commented on the potential litigation. Both of Abele's claims were rejected by the board during closed session discussions. Abele alleges that Paranick had knowledge of Abe's medically protected disability and used derogatory language against him. The claim was heavily redacted, but Abele disclosed his ADHD diagnosis and found Paranick's use of derogatory language hurtful.
