United offers capped fares for Spirit travelers after sudden airline shutdown

United Airlines is offering special fares and temporary benefits to stranded travelers and employees following the sudden shutdown of Spirit Airlines. Most fares are capped at $199 and longer routes will cost no more than $299. The benefits will be offered for two weeks and will be available through a dedicated hiring portal.
