Major fresh meal-kit supplier, FreshRealm, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey after a significant ingredient supply disruption in 2025 that impacted its operations and financial performance. The company plans to cut over 600 jobs in New Jersey and 228 in California, with the positions affected by these job cuts. The most recognizable customer, Blue Apron, will exit its agreement with FreshRealM and move operations to Misfits Market. FreshRealmm's bankruptcy filing also includes two Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (Warthen and California) filings in New NJ and California, which indicate that 865 workers are expected to be affected. The firm plans to keep the business running while working through Chapter 11. It entered the bankruptcy to strengthen its financial position, support business stability, maintain operations, and evaluate strategic alternatives.
