Jayson Tatum performed well at Madison Square Garden for the first time since rupturing his Achilles tendon in the playoffs, scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. This was Tatum's first game since his injury, which ended the Celtics' championship reign in 2004. Despite playing without teammate Jaylen Brown, the Celtics ruled him out of the upcoming game against the New York Knicks due to Achilles tendinitis. The game ended in a 112-106 loss, with New York's Jalen Brunson scoring 25 points and 10 assists. Tatum returned to play on March 6 and has played in 16 games.
