An Ohio grandmother and mother, Taletha Kropp, and Leeonna Cherry, have been charged in the death of their 9-month-old daughter, Makayla Huff, who had ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl. The child was found unresponsive at home on February 19 and pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The Lucas County Coroner's Office ruled her death as a homicide. Witnesses reported that Cherry was aware of her mother's daily drug use, particularly heroin laced with fentanyl. Kropp was charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering children, while Cherry was also charged with obstructing justice. The case is described as rare by the Lucas County Sheriff's Office Drug Abuse Response Team.
