A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to provide the evidence behind its military ban on transgender military service members, setting up a potential class action that could extend the case's protections to all troops across the armed forces. The hearing was moved online due to severe weather conditions. Judge Ana Reyes granted a part of the plaintiffs' request to move the case forward and denied a government motion seeking to halt proceedings while the litigation continues on appeal. She also ordered the government to produce the certified administrative record underlying the policy, internal materials and evidence officials relied on in crafting the restrictions. The lawsuit was filed by transgender service members and prospective recruits who argue that the administration's policy violates constitutional protections against discrimination.
