Trump administration calls off criminal probe into Fed Chair Powell

The US Department of Justice has withdrawn the criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for his multi-billion-dollar renovation project. This decision comes after the Department for Justice announced that it would not support the confirmation of Kevin Warsh, the nominee to replace Powell, who will replace him. Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, who is one of seven Republicans on the 13-member Senate Banking Committee, stated he wouldn't support Warsh's confirmation unless the investigation was dropped. The decision was made by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, who also announced the closure of the investigation.
