The Fertitta family has agreed to purchase the Connecticut Sun for a record-breaking $300 million, potentially moving the WNBA franchise to Houston. The sale, which is still pending approval from the league's Board of Governors, could take place in 2027 with the team expected to play at the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets, and be renamed the Houston Comets. The Sun has played in Uncasville, Connecticut since 2003 and was purchased by the Mohegan Tribe in 2003. The last time a WNBA team was sold was in 2021, when Larry Gottesdiener led a group that bought the Atlanta Dream for under $10 million.
