New faces, longtime leaders run for Schererville Town Council

Schererville residents are seeking their first elected office in the town of Schererville, Illinois, are challenging longtime leaders for a seat on the Schererville Town Council. In the Republican primary for Scherevville Town Council Member Ward 2, Jeff Myszak is challenging incumbent Councilman Kevin Connelly, who has served in the council since 2012. Myszekak, a retired police officer, stated that he prioritises public safety and the police and fire departments' growth. Connelly has been endorsed by the local firefighters union and plans to focus on family-friendly spaces and attractions for the town. The former Illiana Motor Speedway, a 70-acre property owned by the town, has been dormant since 2016 and has been heavily influenced by the project's development plans.
