The widowed socialite Frances Forsyte, played by Tuppence Middleton, has been playing Frances in The Forsytes, a reimagining of her role as widowed Frances who married Jolyon ten years ago. Despite her upbeat demeanor, Frances' life is not going well, as she learns about her husband's previous relationship with Louisa Byrne and their children from whom she arranged for their eviction from their shop and apartment. Despite this, Frances attempts to keep Jolyons from reconnecting with his ex-partner, Louisa, while maintaining contact with them. This leads to a breakdown in Frances' marriage and attempts to hold together her marriage, the family, and daughter's future amidst emotional devastation.
