The Nebraska Supreme Court has upheld Mariano Flores' murder conviction and sentence for a series of gang-related crimes in 2021. Flores was convicted after he and two others stole vehicles and were involved in multiple shootings, one of which killed Timothy Washington. After his conviction in 2024, Flores challenged the court's decision on multiple grounds, including an excessive sentence. The Supreme Court upheld the judgment and sentencing.
