NATO goes aircraft shopping at Turkey summit

The latest NATO summit in Turkey saw significant dealmaking, with over $50 billion in new procurements and agreements to expand weapons production across borders. The biggest deal involved Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway buying up to five MQ-4C Tritons for NATO intelligence collection, and a coalition of 11 allies, including Belgium, Canada, Lithuania and the Netherlands, planning to purchase up to 10 of Saab's GlobalEye aircraft for airborne warning and control. Lockheed Martin and Rheinmetall signed an agreement to co-produce the Army Tactical Missile System on European soil, marking a first time this has been achieved. Additionally, Lockheed is considering additional suppliers in Europe for its Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, which it claims will improve supply chains and meet air-defense demands.
