LaLiga developing African football for global benefit, not just Spain's - Tresor Penku

LaLiga Africa's managing director, Trésor Penku, has expressed his satisfaction with talents coming through the league's programs on the continent and succeeding elsewhere, but hopes some will progress to the elite ranks in Spain. The league, which celebrated its 10-year anniversary in Africa in 2025, prioritised grassroots development work which it claims gave a platform to 3000 young players and coaches across Africa. While LaLiga has had successful projects in Africa over the past decades, it has yet to produce a star directly from its community-based projects. Penku emphasised the importance of developing skills that could benefit both football and industry life beyond simply excelling on the pitch.
