A new black bear has appeared in rural Sumner County, nearly a year after the last sighting. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirmed they are monitoring the bear in Westmoreland. This latest bear is likely a young male and is seen moving around at night, unlike previous sightings. Sgt. Kaleb Stratton from the TWRA compared black bears to racoons and warned against complacency. He also reminded the public that bears can get into cars if they smell something they want, and should not leave food or "attractants" in your car.
