1 of CPS CEO finalists withdraws from consideration, leaving 2, including Macquline King

The search for the next CEO of Chicago Public Schools is now down to two finalists, including Macquline King. This comes after one of the candidates withdrew her name from consideration. There are now calls for the mayor to permanently fill the position. King has served as interim CEO since June last year and supporters argue that she has faced one of most challenging budgets in CPS history. The remaining finalists will undergo interviews with Mayor Brandon Johnson and a community panel of educators, parents and students.
