The family of a man named Jeremy Framolaro, who died in 2025 when he hung himself in the Monmouth County jail, are suing Howell Township police and county jail officials for ignoring his explicit suicide threats. The lawsuit alleges that the officers failed to follow policies regarding the treatment of people under arrest who express suicidal thoughts. It also alleges that they should have taken him to a psychiatric facility for a mental health assessment, which is required under state law and Howell Township policies. The wrongful death lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, including coverage of the funeral costs for Framarlo.
