A member of the Iranian women's soccer team, who was not forced to board a flight home at the last minute, refused to join her teammates who have already been granted asylum in Australia. The team members fear they will be persecuted if they return home amid ongoing US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Five of the seven players have been granted humanitarian visas and requested assistance from the Australian government to stay in the country after their refusal to sing the national anthem at an Asia Cup match.
