A Minnesota nonprofit, the Land Stewardship Project, has called for a comprehensive environmental review before West River Dairy increases its operations by 140%. The company, led by agribusiness giant Riverview LLP, aims to host about 19,000 cows and develop over 13,000 acres to manage manure. The expansion would require pumping 226 million gallons of water annually from a well, raising concerns about the potential impact on land, farmers, and rural communities. LSP is advocating for an Environmental Impact Statement before any permit approval. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will decide on the measure.
