The Future Homes Standard, which will be implemented from 2028, aims to ensure homes are built with on-site renewable electricity generation, most of which is expected to be provided by solar power. The rules also require homes built with low-carbon heating. The government has announced that plug-in solar panels will be available for purchase within shops.
