The Dominican Republic has qualified for the 2028 Olympics, becoming the first nation to do so, aside from the automatically qualified host nation U.S. The country reached the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic with a 10-0 victory over South Korea. The other remaining Olympic spot for the Americas will likely be held by Puerto Rico or Venezuela. This could potentially lead to a team featuring MLB players. The remaining Olympic baseball field will be decided at the November 2027 Premier12 tournament and a final qualifier no later than March 2028.
