Waymo driverless cars stop between railroad and crossing gates

Waymo has confirmed two incidents where driverless cars stopped between railroad and crossing gates in Austin, Texas. The first incident occurred on March 7 and the second occurred when crossing lights activated at approximately 13.6 meters out. Both vehicles reversed after each train passed and the gate lifted. The company is temporarily restricting traversals at similar crossings while investigating the issue.
