Standard Chartered (StanChart) has received final offers from Indian lenders Kotak and Federal to acquire StanChart's India portfolio of credit-card-only customers, who are considered non-core to the bank. The potential divestment is part of the bank's strategy to reduce its focus on single-product clients. The Indian lenders' offers were not immediately disclosed. For them, acquiring the portfolio could help them increase their credit card base and reduce customer acquisition costs. After the deal, StanChart plans to retain around 70,000 Indian credit card customers.
