Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke has completed a short film in Italy, commissioned and produced by Carlo Chatrian, director of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, and discussed the use of generative AI filmmaking at a masterclass organized by the Asian Film Awards Academy in Hong Kong. Jia, one of China's noted Sixth-Generation directors, compared his experience to shooting in Beijing and Shanxi. He also warned against potential backlash from film workers about the use AI in the industry. The masterclass was held at a packed Grand Theatre.
