A female prosecutor in Osaka, Japan, is seeking a judicial review after defamation charges were dropped against a colleague who outed her as a sex assault victim. The scandal involved former head of the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office, Kentaro Kitagawa, who is currently on trial for quasi-forcible sexual intercourse against the woman. The female deputy prosecutor was reprimanded for revealing the victim's name to other colleagues and was subsequently dropped by the Osaka High Public Prosecutors office. The victim is now seeking an indictment by an independent citizens' panel.
