The City of Cleveland is considering a potential closure of Burke Lakefront Airport, which would require federal approval. During a townhall at Burke, the public was asked their thoughts about the potential closure. Mayor Justin Bibb, Ward 15 Councilman Charles Slife, Executive Director of NCWDC Scott Skinner and President of the Northeast Ohio Pilots Association Ned Parks suggested a partial closure could keep Burke operations alive while opening up more space for public use. The redevelopment of the site would require a billion dollar decision, with Councilman Slife stating that the city would need to make a profit off the site due to the loss of the Burke business. The City is currently seeking public opinions through a survey.
