Katie Matzke, our nominee for FOX21’s Remarkable Woman campaign, grew up as a military child and began her career as a nurse in the ICU. She credits her early career to her grandmas' influence on people's lives. Matzkke started as an ICU nurse in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and found the Special Forces Foundation the most rewarding part of her career. She still works in the hospital and supports spouses through the Special Armed Forces. Matzbke also shares her support for the foundation through social media and fundraising efforts. She acknowledges the challenges she faces as a Special Forces spouse and struggles with communication and mental health.
