A 16-year-old student is accused of using artificial intelligence to create explicit images and share them without their consent. The case occurred at Mason High School last fall and has been investigated by investigators. The student was back at school after his arrest and was placed on house arrest. His father expressed concern over the emotional impact of the situation on his daughter. The Education Attorney for Mason City Schools, Rachel WHELAN, suggested that while current laws limit removal of students from certain areas due to due process, schools may have the authority to act under state law. The alleged crime was discovered after the student was charged with using AI to make and share explicit images of classmates.
