98 Degrees bandmates Jeff Timmons, Nick Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Drew Lacheys struggled with identity as they gained fame as they sought to gain fame with their original label, Motown Records, which sought to replicate success with other successful groups. The label's president, the president of Motown, wanted them to be the "white Jodeci," leading them to attend "black churches in Harlem" and wear a bulletproof vest while working with DeVanté from JodECi. Lagney admitted to struggling mentally during this time, while Timmons also struggled with severe depression and sought help from a psychiatrist. The documentary, Boy Band Confidential, premieres on ID on Monday, April 20 at 9pm ET/PT on ID.
