Developer Bruno Schickel has created the first-ever tiny-home communities in upstate New York, inspired by the children's book "Miss Rumphius" by Barbara Cooney. He created a tiny-house village where kindness and beauty are prevalent and residents are encouraged to create their own fairy tales. Schicke, the founder of Schickell Construction Co., started his first tiny-homer community in 1996 in Boiceville Cottages, which is now home to over 140 tiny houses. The homes can be leased for 12 months at a time, with prices starting at $1,695 for a "studio" house and $2,395 for a two-bedroom gatehouse cottage with its own office. The community offers a range of rentals, from a 600-square-foot, one-bedroom abode for $ 1,000 square feet of space for €1,995 a month.
